Storyboard

If there's one thing college taught me, it's that storyboards are REALLY important!!! They help you tell your story shot by shot, as well as establish the camera angles. They do these for live action movies and music videos too, not just animations. Pixar takes it a step even further and makes 'color boards' (painted storyboards that show what color everything will be in each scene)

This is a color script from Toy Story 3, which by the way this scene in the day care is one of my absolute favorites from a visual standpoint. It's so unbelievably rich in color and the attention to details are incredible.

I said I would post my storyboard for my senior project so here it is! Ignore the high quality web cam and random hands..I was having some computer issues.

Also I should probably note the reason why there's a picture of her in what appears to be an alley is because I wanted to have a scene at the end where she's in a different place outside the studio, outside her alternate reality, without the bag.  I wanted to show the dance goes on even though the music has ended, the curtain has fallen.

I'M ALIVE!!!

Heh heh...have I gone almost a full year without posting? *sadness* I'm sorry!!!

I can OFFICIALLY say I'm a college graduate :D ! It's the best and the worst feeling I've ever had, but I know once I find a good job in an animation/illustration field things will fall into place.

ANYWAY I should have posted this months ago, but this is my senior project I spent my last school year of college working on. It's not quite where I want it to be yet..the bag had an ncloth shape on it (along with her ponytail), but it didn't work for some reason I can't figure out yet :/ SO besides from getting the ncloth to work right, I also wanna fix some of her weights to make her move a little more fluidly.  Also given the time constraints I was under, it's a bit rushed. I want to make it a good minute longer if I can.

Here it is for all it's worth :) I think after a little tweaking here and there, I can really have a solid piece (and hopefully it can be the first movie on my future demo reel) I'll post some story boards for this as well, maybe some rendered images of the dance studio and all that jazz.

AND of course I can't forget to post some things I did in painting, drawing, and photography :) Stay tuned!

PS. Thank you to all my friends and professors at Montclair for giving me the best college experience anyone could ask for :)

Say Cheese

One class I had last semester I really enjoyed was Black and White Photography (so much in fact, I'm doing Photo II this semester) I thought I'd post some of my favorite photographs I took throughout the semester. Click on them for a larger view.

Technically this one is a photogram (made by putting objects on a sheet of photo paper and exposing it to light)

These next few are of my friend, Drew, who was my awesome model :) She wore the plaid shirt without me knowing, and I really liked how it looked in the leaves.

This one down here is my favorite one of Drew (also my professors) The white dots are from my scanner, not the negative being dirty. I have another version where you can see more of her hair laying in the leaves that I'll post later. One of the reasons I love this photograph so much is because of how intimate it feels, as if it was meant for a lover. And the background isn't too distracting that it takes away from the main subject.

One of the photographs I took for our time and motion assignment. My professor talked a lot about motion blur, and panning the camera to make the background blurry and have the subject in focus. Not quite what I got, but I still like how this one came out.

This one was an open choice assignment. I took this after the bizarre mini snow storm we had last October. The town over from me had a scarecrow contest which evidently turned into a snowman display.

This was our last assignment. We had to photograph a common object, and the class collectively chose brown eggs. What you did with those eggs was up to you. So without further ado, meet the egg family :D

Again, I apologize if some of these look dirty, they didn't all scan as well as I had hoped.  I do have a few more photographs I'd like to put up as soon as I get my hands on them!

Happy New Years!

Sorry I've been on such a long hiatus with posting, but it's a new year and I have new art! My stuff from last semester will probably be posted gradually as I get things scanned in.

These 4 images are part of my Drawing II final. The assignment was really open ended,so I decided to draw 4 self portraits in completely different styles.

 Traditional self portrait in graphite

Abstract/Cubist inspired done in colored pencil

Illustrative/Cartoon with a pop art background done in Prismacolor markers
 Pointillism rendered with artist pens
